I like this idea, but only if the copy firm has better technology than what I mentioned. Laser printers aren't dense enough, and ink-spitters, generally, aren't either. If only there were one that would print multiple layers on the same transparency with good registration. Multiple transparencies might work, though registration and precision (media stretch, shape, etc.) would be an issue. I wonder how many attempts would be required before one could "get it right." Those would not be free.


With a diffuser and a small LED matrix behind each character, it's possible to illuminate a character. However, an entire text string, as shown in the original post, would require quite a few LED's.

This would still require a considerable investment, I suspect.
