I have to disagree with this statement. The more engineers there are in management the better. I would not want some arty farty history graduate managing me. It's not the history graduate that's the problem. It's the genius with a business degree who doesn't understand technical work. Nor do these sorts understand that you can't put a schedule on "research and development." I mean, consider: the next project will be something new from the ground up. New technology to use, new chips to understand, whatever. Natch, the PHB, pushed by sales to meet quarterly numbers, will say, "so when can we ship the new product you're working on?" -a |
