Now that's a very important proviso: Jez was talking about raw graduates with no experience; you are talking about graduate with a few years experience - which is an entirely different thing!

If a redbrick 2:1 or 1st graduate is still in engineering after a few years, this must demostrate a truly talented and comitted individual who has both the academic ability to get a good degree and the aptitude to apply it effectively.
All the other redbrick 2:1 or 1st graduates with no practical aptitude would have left engineering for accountancy, sales, management or something worse...
