#125328 - Assembler is dead Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Assembler is dead? Then I mustn't have a job then! Well, Darren, I for one are glad that you are happy with Bascom. It's a good product. I've used it once or twice to test some stuff, but I haven't used it in a commercial app as yet. That said, assembler doesn't actually support maths functions, but it does support 8bit integers. To address the lack of maths functions in 8051 assembler there are routines written to do square root and Taylor's power series expansions. Is the irony lost? Whilst I applaude your efforts, how is doing 16 or more PID loops on a AT80C51ED2 ground breaking? If it was controlling 16 DC or AC servo motors for positioning, then I would be impressed, but sadly, this might be near impossible for a low end processor. Hi Russel, Why is it so smart to control position??, with positional servo's as opposed to velocity, positional does not have a load so the output load act as a pure integrator, simply balance it with some differential for quickest speed response.
