as so often before the one thing not mentioned is "know-how".
I have no doubt that Ralph know how ti put some amps and whatever on a board to amplify sound. But he will never have the amsaased "know-how" that even went into the earlier analog hearing aids. I think my phrase about switchers: "anyone I know can design one, none can make one work (efficiently)" apply even more to hearing aids thatn switching power supplies. A simple amplifier with a "telephone company" frequency filter may very well work in 99% of cases, but what about the half of that last percent where they actually will cause pain? I happened to see some time ago - no I do not recall the numbers - how many engineering employees OTICON has compared to their production, it was stunning. Erik |
