Even if you did know what was inside, how would that help you? I dare say the whole thing is a custom ic which is of no help to you. They cost so much as they don't make too many. They are probably as complex as a bluetooth headset, but the bluetooth headsets are made in the 100,000's and targetted to a competitive market. Say you opened up a bluetooth headset - what knowlege would you gain and how would you assemble such a device? In short -they're black magic, you pay your money and you get the goods! Ok I don't need see the inside of the hearing aid,but I like to know how something this small with two ASIC and DSP work with only one half volt battery. I tryed to find application notes but with out the number of the chips its diffcult at best. Did any one ever experiment with digital hearing aids? Can any one give a block diagram of the way think it might work? If I can find any more information on digital hearing aids I will post it. It seems to be a big secret. Russell in answer to your question bluetooth has lots of application notes available, but hearing aids very little information on them any where. Found little more information. Zarlinks ultra lowpower, mixed signal ASIC are designed on a 0.35 micron cmos techology. The CODEC (Coder/Decoder) ASIC measures just 8.8 mm2 and consumes only 600 microamps at 1.25v. The DSP (Digital Signal Processor) ASIC is produced in 0.18 micron cmos, has a clock rate of 1.5 Mhz and draws less then 150 microamps at 1.25v. To me that's very impressive for it size and battery size. Best reguards, Ralph |
