My dad has hearing loss in one ear due to someone putting olive oil in his ear when he was a kid to cure ear ache, which as anyone will tell you is the worst thing you can do as the oil perforates the eardrum, he has had an analogue aid for about 30 years and tried the digital one a couple of years ago but because he finds it easy to hide behind his deafness sometimes he wont touch a digital one even though he was offered one for free by someone he knows.
I am told that they are simply designed to boost the gain at selectable frequencies which is what the DSP does and store the setings in an eeprom, I have no idea why you need two additional asics but i very much doubt that you will find out what they do. |
