hearing is extremely complex and highly non-linear! A modern digital hearing aid is much more complex and versatile then a simple analog one, which only contains a simple equalizer. Some time ago, I have read something about digital hearing aids, but unfortunately I cannot remember where. But the newest digital hearing aids run a highly complex non-linear signal processing, which makes hearing hughly easier, less painful and more selecitve then any other analog hearing aid. There are specialists on the market which can help musicians which are nearly totally deaf to even participate to a concert! These digital hearing aids must be adapted to every single person during very long lasting test programs. Its not the 1.4V ability of used chips, which make these hearing aids so expensive, but the cybernetic technology inside! Kai |
