Well, it's been since the late 1980s since I used a schmidt trigger to debounce a pushbutton, and your comments may very well be right. I don't remember using an RC filter, and neither do I remember it ever giving me any bouncing problems. Maybe I did use an RC filter and just don't recall. In any case, I do remember that the schmidt trigger fixed the problem.
