#108136 - '98 is the last that will run true DOS. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I don't fully understand why people are so attached to Windows 9x. Maybe it's because some things were easier to code under Windows 9x (think: access parallel port).
'98 is the last that will run true DOS. While DOS may not be "modern" "intuitive" "smart" or whatever, I does allow precise timing of outputs. One example is J1708 that declare end of message after 8 bit times. On a heavily loaded Windows XP system, I have seen EOM where it should not be. So XP is probably better for what Windows is intended for (computing) whereas '81 is better for what Windows is not intended for (control) Erik |
