Maxim recently came out with a 4052 lookalike that "can take it".

You're quite right, Bitscope website states cleraly that this MAX4052 is the best.But in the schematic we see that "74HC4052 is suitable alternative for MAXIM part. CMOS 4052 Will result in degraded performance"
This is making me to get intrested to use relays for arranging the proper input range.
