#186404 - JTAG and JTAG
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Andy Peters said:
So I sent off a tech-support e-mail to SiLabs, asking: "What debug dongle do we use with the 32-bit parts, and can we use the same one we use with the 8051 devices?"

The answer to the latter question is no, it's a different dongle (though for JTAG, I fail to see why ...)
Now this is perhaps time to point out the way how Microchip supports their products thus their users.

Not only they have a single dongle and a single IDE supporting consistently their whole production range from 8- through 16- up to the 32-bitters, but they also are steadily supplying virtually every chip they ever conceived (and committing publicly to supply the '51s they have acquired, too :-) ). This might be unimportant for the million-chips-a-year company; but this is what we, the garage-scale types, really need.

Whatever you (and me too :-) ) think of their products... ;-)
