#186398 - SiLabs ARM debug
Responding to: ???'s previous message

So I've spent about half an hour on the SiLabs website, trying to figure out whether the 8051 JTAG adapter will work with the ARMs, and if not, what adapter do I need, where can I buy it, and how much does it cost.

Some answers are here
http://search.digikey.com/us/en/pro...ND/2795736

It will cost no more than $99, as that gives you a new debug set.

It may cost no less than $99, as it seems you cannot presently buy a split, but you could try your JTAG unit, by download of the M3 SW, and see what messages it spits on seeing your JTAG box.. ?

So I sent off a tech-support e-mail to SiLabs, asking: "What debug dongle do we use with the 32-bit parts, and can we use the same one we use with the 8051 devices?"

The answer to the latter question is no, it's a different dongle (though for JTAG, I fail to see why ...) and the first reply from the support guy said, "You get the debug dongle with the development kit." Which is fine, but we don't want to buy development kits when we want to provide the product people with the programming tools. So, as of Friday afternoon, the tech support contact was trying to figure out a part number and price for just the debug dongle.
