It's not, of course, just chip manufacturers - it affects all new products!

Of course it's annoying when it happens to you - but it does happen.
That's precisely why I titled my earlier post, "Yet another missed opportunity" - it's certainly not unique to Atmel!

Can you honestly say that you have never over-run on a schedule due to some unforseen problem...?
