I also got an email from Atmel. It is clearly in response to the sample request that I posted. As Andy says, it included a form that asks for all the same information that I had already entered and submitted via the sample request web page.

I sent them a reply that asked them just what kind of business they are trying to run. I stated that I had serious doubts as to the company's ability to execute on products they may be trying to deliver if they cannot even make the technical leap to utilize the information I submitted on the web page as opposed to blindly asking for it all again. I considered the email an insult and told them as much.

I'll wait to see their response and based on that decide whether they get a design win or not.
