you recommend an ADC that can support multiple channels for the same features ? OR would it need to be a sort of MUX switch based system in front of the AD7730 ?
do not consider an external MUX a multichannel a/d has matched muxes.

It takes the same time to read a, then b, then c, then d as it takes to read 4 channels from a multichannel a/d. Thus multiplexing has no penalty
so 6 of one half a dozen of the other.
