#170077 - Enforcement isn't my job. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
David Prentice said: I don't find it necessary to run to the authorities with every infraction I observe, but I don't want people whose abilities and judgment may be impaired by one or another substance working on MY projects.
Richard,
I may be in a minority with Per, but I feel that your posts are a little "opinionated". I suspect however that this is a majority view. You are quite within your rights to trade with whoever you like. And if you have evidence of some law-breaking, it may be your civic duty to report it. But I do not choose to call all people drug addicts or alcoholics. Sure some people may well be. You would be offended if I made some unsubstantiated claim about the residents of Denver. I doubt you can find any place at all where I called anyone a drug addict or an alcoholic. Per is the one who made that leap. I simply commented on what I saw, and smelled. As I said above, I simply don't want people who routinely use intoxicants on the job working on my projects. I find your technical opinions fascinating. They are not exactly mainstream, but if your methods suit you then no-one wants to stop you. And they often bring a breath of fresh air to the modern consensus.
David. I won't go so far as to claim that someone who happens on the one occasion I see him/her, to be clearly intoxicated with obvious alcohol on his/her breath, and alcoholic. Alcoholism is, after all, more than just having a couple of beers or a shooter of "Old Tennis-shoes" at mid-afternoon, but it suggests a lax attitude toward one's responsibility toward one's customers. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the same streets and highways with people who think that's all right. As for the "weed," well, I don't like the fact that so many people feel it's O.K. to thumb their nose at the law of the land and use it despite its illegality, but I'm not charged with enforcing those laws. I don't approve of such behavior and would certainly have intervened if my kids had been so engaged, but ... fortunately ... they weren't. RE |
