#168257 - It is easier to develop with ISP or IAP Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I note that you are using AT89C51 or AT89C4051, which both require full parallel programming. So it may be cheaper for production to program them off the board.
But a development cycle is easier if you leave the chip in-circuit and use the AT89S51 or AT89S4051 versions. Of course all manufacturers use different systems for ISP and IAP. Now I can see no problem with using a USB->RS232 cable with Vista, Linux, XP or whatever o-s supports USB. It happens that I have every Elektor except for the June 2004 issue. I am just assuming that it takes regular commands via RS232, and provides any signals to the target MCU by itself. In which case it should work with ANY USB->RS232 cable. David. |
