From your photograph, there looks like a LEFT and a RIGHT channel. But even that relies on having the thing the correct way up, and not getting the cables twisted! And, when the PC enumerates it as COMx and COMy, how do you know whether COMx is left or right?! (the connectors do not necessarily enumerate to consecutive COM numbers) a space for an identifying label on each DB9 connector. True - but you can only label them after the trial & error to determine which is which. Still, it was cheap - and that's what you get if you buy cheap junk. Most of these cables allocate a COM# to each channel when first used with your PC. The driver will associate the unique identifier from the USB device. So you can swap physical USB ports and keep the COM#. In my experience, that is only the case with "better quality" products - the cheap ones will allocate a new COM number for each physical USB socket (and may even require you to re-run the installer) eg, see: http://www.8052.com/forum/read/168097 |
