#166550 - It's about attitude Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Nothing about native language. Nothing about general maturity of poster. Nothing about length of post. Nothing about previous knowledge. The biggest difference is about attitude.
Read the two posts again, but this time you concentrate on the attitude. The people who do get ignored or do get a "clean up and get to work" comment gets it because of the attitude in their posts. And that attitude is: "My time is too important for me to bother. Someone else: step in and fix this for me!" In 98% of 100, you can correctly bin the requester type based on the initial post. Maybe once every 6 months, you might be surprised. Either someone who did spend a lot of time presenting their case ends up requesting someone else to step in and fix the mess. Or someone who did make a very bad initial post manages to follow up with information about own work - and then manages to use the help they receive to solve the problem. Of course you have seen good first posts from students. No one have claimed that this world does not have students with a good attitude. And you will regularly see bad posts from "professionals" too - we already know that there are lazy people who have for some strange reason managed to get through school and get a job. But forums are not here to be free labor for lazy people. On the other hand - there are no too trivial problems to discuss, and no too stupid questions to ask. But there is a need that the requester has an interest in learning and improving. |
