Gimme code makes you dumb.

Gimme code when you have done nothing is just about the most dangerous thing you can get. If there is some detail that does not fir your specific project you are totally lost.

There has been umpteen occasions where someone has been "given code" and immedaitely replied "it does not work on my board" a typical example is LED code with delay that the receiver who has no idea what this is about can not figure out to adapt to a faster processor.

I have, on occasion "given (a link to) code" to someone that has written code himself that did not work. Once your attempt to write the code yourself has "forced" you to understand the issues a "given code" can lead to the "aha moment"
