#177643 - This is exactly what I've been harping on ... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
for years now.
Many people on this site have completely forgotten that there are people out there who will never develop a product of economic value, yet they derive many hours of pleasure from crafting a solution to a problem simply by using things they already have on hand. This drives some of the long-time 8052.COM'ers crazy, since they believe a compoent is obsolete useless once the paint is dry and the datasheet no longer is marked PRELIMINARY. Those old components still work, if they're healthy, and part of the job is figuring out whether they do or not. Yes, it's a pain in the *ss often enough, but these people come to 8052.COM because there are people there who know how to do that stuff. Of course, many of them who don't know, immediately jump in and say, "Why would you want to do that? You should <insert the solution they understand here> instead!" I remember one case where a fellow located in war-torn east-Africa wanted to know how to do something with what he had, yet all he could get from 8052.COM was advice on which of a number of components, none of which were available to him, he should substitute for what he had. It was difficult enough for him to get internet access, let alone try to establish a supply chain in an area where he could barely find food. I'm sure his situation wasn't totally desperate, but telling a person to do something else, when his objective is to do what he can with the resources at his disposal is not helpful. More often the O/P is a youngster with limited resources. Why can't people let these upstarts do what they want, rather than trying to force them into a different mold? RE |
