#168804 - mental hardware guy Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Consider, for a moment, the mental image one gets of a "hardware engineer". You probably see a middle-aged guy with a short haircut, glasses, and a short-sleeved white shirt, neatly pressed pants, and wingtips. I really hope that this image is obsolete. I usually show up at work in a pair of jeans, New Balances (I have bad feet) and a t-shirt advertising a punk rock band I used to do sound for Back In The Day. Having said that, I wear glasses (bifocals, actually) because I stare at a computer screen 25 hours a day. And I have short hair because us aging (I'm 43) punk rockers realize that we can't fight aging and genetics. Plus our wives/girlfriends prefer short hair. My ears are wired to my iPod via a pair of Sony MDR-7509 headphones because the walla around the office can be annoying. If I mixed in-ear monitors for bands I'd have a pair of the high-end custom-fit Sennheiser ear-buds. For the record, I do not own ANY short-sleeve button-down white shirts. -a |
