I actually use these cards for my projects, based on requirements. For example, we have been selling weighbridge/weighment automation software in middle-east for the past 12 years, and the PC makes lot of decisions based on the smart card data or data from PLC or OPC server. It switches on/off barrier controls, dispatch valves etc. That is one place we use ethernet I/O. If this card has a public IP, then it can be accessed from anywhere! Our Ethernet cards use wiznet/silabs chips.

I haven't tried selling the cards alone, but am thinking of starting it. If you can advice me on the marketabiliy, I would appreciate it. I have GSM based alert cards, I/O cards, Ethernet device servers and I/O, Power measurement cards with display used for power converters etc. All are designed in house. But we focus mainly on business software and power management/SNMP software/network coding. We also sell a software that can monitor many power equipments over internet in real-time.
