#167101 - Making it more clear
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Let me try to answer all the queries raised :

- As I said I simply want to just switch On/Off a few gadgets (when I am not at home) through an Internet connection.
- By bells and whistles I meant camera surviellence, dialling the police if there is an intruder and the like.
- My house is an independent one so there are ho hassles of an apartment association etc.
- The electricity department / Insurance Co. have no limiting clauses ( atleast as of now ) on such gadgets.
- Of course for my own safety I will NOT use any home brewn stuff / without valid certifications, to do this remote function.
- Controlling by using the DTMF tones of the phone line, is one way. Or so I guess. I will not know the current status of the gadget. And here again I don't think there are certified commercial products.

I did view the X10 site but was dissappointed. I normally hate sites that have so much of flashing content and count down timers. And even then I did search for any product the would meet my requirement - except for a WebCam most of the other products are RF based.

Now that most queries have been addressed I will be happy to get some more links for the product that I need.

Raghu
