re 'my' design and Richards, Richard do not use a series resistor, I consider that 'dangerous'

re 1k - 10k to Vcc: I use 2k2, 1k will make the switch work well, 10k will also and save (battery) power but add to the delay.

Re 1-100nF: 100nF, of course gives the best protection, but the response will be slower, 1nf often is enough, I just had a look at one of mine, it was 2n2
