The project I'm doing has nothing to do with my work. I once started with the HEF4021 for reading switches. These switches are manually operated frontpanel switches.So no need for high speed configurations. And to be honiest : I never looked for any other shift registers.

But you're right. The HC(T) shiftregisters are better and faster.
