if you are doing any 8051 based development then SDCC is ok but as far as PIC microcontroller`s port of SDCC is concerned it is still in its preliminary stage and not that matured as 8051's SDCC port is,and above all this SDCC port for PIC micro is meant for pic18fxx devices only not for midrange PIC16C/F/xx devices.
