If you add up all the 805x-instruction-set parst sold and subtract all the PIC family members sold, even including those from Ubicom, which are, actually quite different, the 805x still sells a lot more. It's just that the mfg's don't always mark 'em 805x.

They're really popular with the hobbyist crowd, though, mainly because they're really available.
