Charles, please, it was a joke. A sarcastic one, I admit.

The absolute majority of those who attend here are 8052 users so they all might understand that as an attack - I doubt anybody would.

I think Steve's point was, that the sheer fact of being a PIC user does not make anybody smarter (although it is sure that some talent is needed to produce anything reasonable on that - ehm - architecture). It is just the extreme popularity, the huge user base, their entusiasm and their willingness to share their "products" publicly (or, maybe, show off?) which yields that truly amazing amount of knowledge and projects lying around.

I don't like them but then I don't like a lot of things other people do like or even are very popular, including Windows, C and lemon-flavour icecream, but I am trying to be tolerant (read: I respect both you and Steve).
