#123262 - Hey Charles! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Charles, I'm not too sure of all that was mentioned in your email is entirely correct! Was the 16F84 available in 1990? Can you clock their counters at 50MHz? Probably not - If my memory serves me correct one has a prescaler ic before the cpu. Oui? As for cost of PICs - they're price competitive but I wouldn't say they're heaps cheaper than the competition except if you get preferential pricing from Microchip (another marketing stroke of genius). PIC peripherals - clunky is one word I'd use to describe them. How would you describe the interrupt system on a PIC? Especially in comparison to a 8051? (poor contest actually - the 8051 has one of the more flexible interrupt systems!) Oh yes! Quantity != Quality! |
