Here is a suited schematic:

"D+" is "charging control line" of generator: As soon as the generator delivers a stable voltage, "D+" goes "high" and turns-on the relay. So, during cranking phase, the second battery isn't connected to main battery and so, no voltage drop should be seen at second battery during cranking phase. Take a very robust relay of at least 70A current rating. The two 30A fuses must be located directly at plus pins of each battery!! All loads connected to second battery must see a fuse in the plus line, best located directly at plus pin of second battery. Kai |
