the current in active mode is not the issue what you need to go by is the A/H used to execute your 'active' code. if one processor uses 1mA for 5 secs and another uses 2mA for 1 sec to execute the active 'loop' which would you choose. The common 10-pin headers are a no-go - there simply isn't that much space available I have, in some cases, worked with "connector converter cables" nobody states that you have to use the connectors on the dongle on your board. the SILabs deviates uses 3 pins.
