We tested the output of the so called MAX232 today. I did not have a lot of time to use the scope. Here are some screen shots of the good and bad chips:

the results were from a microcontroller sending 55h,AAh,55h,AAh....

We also tested the boards with T1-OUT joined to R1-IN and typed chars in the terminal.

I guess I got burned.
