Dell has a streamlined shipping process and a low price, which gives them a significant market share. But in my view, the actual hardware - or their support - is really not up to a top-3 or top-5 position. The purchase departments loves them, because they are easy to buy. And having a large market share helps when it comes to third-party support - for example for use with VMware. But the real hardware is often lacking. They down-clock memories etc to make the machines reliable, when competitors instead supplies reliable hardware. So once more - the purchase departments loves them. |
