#183967 - 64-bit Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Microsoft is pushing 64-bit machines for a simple reason.
Their OS is very bloated. They can't get 32-bit machines to work well, since 4GB doesn't leave much memory for any applications after Windows have taken its share. With 64-bit machines, M$ can just recommend that you install 8 or 12 GB of RAM and then they can continue to code-bloat the OS even further. After all, a 64-bit OS can fit 4 billion times as much memory as a "normal" 32-bit OS that isn't using special extensions (which M$ only support in their 32-bit server versions of Windows). |
