#151178 - Where there's a will there's a way Responding to: ???'s previous message |
maybe this is something the on-screen editing tool could handle. I have no idea what that tool is, or where it resides, but if the on-screen editor doesn't allow the common SMS constructs, it should quickly become clear to those who insist on using SMS.
I use FireFox, and it provides spell-checking, though I don't always agree with its spelling corrections. It does help avoid typo's, which are sometimes unintelligible. I've noticed, however, that there's some active reformatting, e.g. the deletion of one of the two spaces that normally follow a period, when I use 8052.COM. If that's done by 8052.COM, then I suspect 8052.COM could also filter out the sort of undesirable constructs like SMS objects. It would be particularly helpful if refusal to accept the common SMS objects were accompanied by an exhortation to read the site rules. Other offensive terms, e.g. idiot, nincompoop, etc, could also be filtered out, since all it would require once such a feature were in place, would be addition to a database. Perhaps it would be useful to incorporate the generation of a warning that use of such terms is likely to attract the moderator's attention, resulting in a risk of deletion. RE |
