SPAM is email that is generated with the idea of sending it to as many essentially random email addresses as possible. No OS is immune to this if it provides email. The only thing that surely will effect a reduction in the SPAM that's sent to you is extremely judicious use of your email address in your web surfing practices.
I use Windows when it's more convenient. I tolerate the routine intrusion into my computer by SPA and others, though I do use anti-virus, and anti-spyware/malware software. I use FEDORA Linux. It's painless, fully functional, and I feel much safer using it to do "useful work" than I do under Windows. Much of the "real" work is done under DOS, where there are no problems at all. Tools that don't run under DOS are simply run where they will work. I do, of course, have Windows boxes that aren't Internet-connected. Unfortunately, some Windows software doesn't tolerate the lack of web access. RE |
