#146371 - I'll absolutely give it a try ... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I doubt it'll get anywhere near the native DOS-OrCAD format. PDF995 produces about 500x file size increases, as it has to take the graphic representation and translate it from a 50x bitmap format to a 500x PDF. DOS-OrCAD schematics are in vector format, requiring only a few bytes to represent each line or curve. The Windows-OrCAD format is different. Neither one produces particularly attractive schematics. DOS-OrCAD is quick and easy, though, and the version on public file under Yahoo has schematic capture, 16-layer PCB editor/autorouter, PLD entry and modeling tool, and logic simulator. It allows exporting schematics and netlists and supports import and export of lots of netlist formats.
I'll see how much better it is, I guess. Frankly, I'd still rather send a 15KB schematic file to represent my design of >200 IC's on multiple dozens of sheets, rather than the 15 MB that PDF requires. We'll see how much difference the RE |
