#146488 - Linux tools
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I agree with Andy and Erik, and I love Linux, but not necessarily want to use it, simply because of lack of many tools.

Everyone has different needs. Linux has good tools for everything I need to do, and much more. Many Linux tools are vastly superior to their equivalents in Windows. YMMV.

Coming back, Jeff, did you happen to use Avast antivirus and Zone alarm personal firewall?

I haven't had a machine with Windows on it in many, many years. The only time I use Windows is for professional reasons on other people's machines. And every time, it raises my blood pressure. I find Windows clunky, irritating, and a general pain in the butt to use. Especially their crappy tools (VC+ et al). In Linux I can get work done without the aggravation that Windows causes.

I dint encounter any single incident in past two years of usage!

That you know of. I've lost count of the infected Windows machines whose owners claimed they had no viruses because they ran the latest and greatest anti-virus and firewall software. Erik says he gets no spam. If so, he may be the only Windows user who doesn't.

I really don't care what OS other people use, as long as Windows users would keep their spam-spewing machines off the internet. It doesn't matter that I get no spam; the volume of spam is eating bandwidth and clogging up the internet. Would there still be spam if everyone used Linux? You bet. About 0.01 percent of what it is now.
