Would there still be spam if everyone used Linux? You bet. About 0.01 percent of what it is now. No, spam does not depend upon the operating system, it rather depends how many users are being targeted. For example, as there are many Windows users compared to Linux users at the present time of this writing, the so called spam originating from whatsoever source, is targeted for the majority users. Linux users, could have a better spam protection engines, by the virtue you are saved. Imagine if there are more Linux users, and all the spam would be made intelligent enough to break the Linux based spam fighting tools. You cannot conclude that it would be 10000 times less spam if everyone uses Linux. Spam is generic, no matter whatsoever OS you use, *** pills, pedigree money lottery, etc. spams will continue to flow. For spammers, its not the OS but the money which they want to make. Linux has good tools for everything I need to do, and much more. Many Linux tools are vastly superior to their equivalents in Windows. YMMV. Then why does some Linux user invent a thingy called WinE (Windows Emulator?) Can't they live up just with the "vastly superior" Windows equivalents? And every time, it raises my blood pressure. I find Windows clunky, irritating, and a general pain in the butt to use What clunky stuff of Windows causes your blood pressure to increase? BTW, what flavor of Linux you run? Only advantage you claim with Linux is, its mostly free. For everything else, Linux needs time and users to mature. -Vignesh PS: I am not sure how long will this thread be run by Steve/Craig. We are entering a potential flame war, and deviating too much off-topic. Sorry folks. |
