What do you mean by that?

Do you mean that you should have studied microcontrollers, but have omitted to do so?
You shouldn't expect everything to be handed to you on a plate in lectures/lessons - you will also have to do your own private study & research.

Or, If this has simply not been covered in the course, maybe you are just making the whole thing too difficult?
