It should also prevent aberrant apostrophe's (sic) and unnecessary tautologies (sic)... ;-)

the typos MUST be confusing to many of those for whom English is not their primary language.

Hmm, but would being forced to spell correctly in their own posts help or hinder them?

It must be said that the worst SMS offenders do seem to be non-native English users...

It could also potentially eliminate confusion over misspellings of technical nomenclature.

Like all the people who insist on an uppercase 'S' for seconds?
Or "mhz", KhZ", etc...
