#112677 - Reed problem Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'm not sure what the current draw was. This was a long time ago when I built a computer based on a RCA 1802 CPU. The portable tape player was my "mass storage" and therefor required computer control over the transport motor. A really wild guess would probably put the current draw somewhere around 100-200 mA @ 3 volts. I probably exceeded the the reed current rating but found the "latching" phenomenom interesting and puzzling. I only bring it up here because with the relatively heavy current load Suresh is trying to switch with his reed switches he may run into the same problem. Just to rephrase the problem I had was that once current flowed through the reed switch I was unable to open the switch until I opened the motor circuit by a different means.
