TRASH THE TESTING
If "testing" show that a 1A relay can handle 1000 switches of 2A does that IN ANY WAY prove it can handle 1001? I couldn't agree more! Erik, even this testing makes no sense, equally what results it will present! Why? Because the manufacturer can change the mixture of contacts at every time, next year, next month or even tomorrow! What performed properly in your test yesterday might be obsolete tomorrow. Manufacturer only guarantees the specified maximum current. No more and no less. What it will do at higher currents is unpredictable. Testing the relay for higher currents makes absolutely no sense at all. It's just stupid, silly, worthless, trashy, what ever you want to call it. I would never do something like this, because it's wasted time, energy, resources, motivation, etc. It's just a stupid no no, not even for a professional, but for all who have switched-on their brain! These tests are unsuited to give you any useful information, unless you have the guarantee from manufacturer that the mixture of contacts, the fabrication process and the used materials will always be identical, for now and forever... I'm sorry, but sometimes we professionals must have very clear words. Kai |
