#111518 - the difference between "cheap" and "inex Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Since its going to be for very short period will that affect the performance very badly?
When is the most critical time for a switch: make and break Is make or break a "very short period", I hope so. Does the inrush current coincide with the make? Once the switch is totally closed can you exceed the rating? I would not, but that would be the least critical time to do so. in other words DUH! The difference between "cheap" and "inexpensive" is that cheap does not work (reliably) and inexpensive does. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the least expensive part that meet or surpass the load but going "cheap" and "testing" that a 1A switch can handle 3A is plain foolishness Do you really believe that if a 1A switch can handle 3A the manufacturer would not rate it as such since that would lead to greater sales? Erik "testing" is the most abused word in this forum. What does a test prove? it proves that "it worked this time", it proves ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about what will happen next time. |
