Remember, we talk about phase angle control. Also, the Rogowski coil outputs a signal which is proportional to change rate of welding current, or concretely spoken proportional to first time derivative of welding current. As the welding current shows steep edges the time derivative of current will show huge and narrow voltage spikes. So, at least every 1µsec a sample should be taken.

To use an analog integrator at front end of signal processing chain is very common. There are lots of Rogowski coil amplifiers on the market, which are based on this analog integrator.
