You can read/write FRAM in the same way as you'd use battery-backed RAM, but it's non-volatile without a battery and the associated issues.
There are SPI-interfaced FRAM components available if that matters, though my own experience has been with parallel interfaced ones, using "standard" 805x external memory bus techniques. There's no need for any timing tricks, as the parallel types are in the 55-60 ns read/write access-time range with no restrictions on sector size, and, in fact, there are no sectoring requirements.
