The 'V' in VHDL once refered to VHISIC, which was, IIRC, an acronymn for Very High Speed Integrated Circuit. I haven't heard it used lately, or, in fact, for at least a decade, yet there it is.
The VHISIC project was a initially military project, though commercial industry stood to gain much more than did the military. RE |
