#181860 - PCIe in FPGA
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Thanks for the responses, they've given me something to think about.

My project is a PCIe data acquisition board with some DSP in the FPGA. I'm currently looking at an Altera Cyclone IV GX, so I'm using the Altera Quartus software. I like the idea of strong typing in VHDL for my arithmetic as I will probably be using plenty of weird bit lengths.

Are you going to use the Altera PCIe core, or an external bridge device (PLX, whatever)?

Make sure you pay attention to the Quartus synthesis guide's recommendations about inferring DSP blocks.
